San Francisco Term Papers
A term paper is a type of research paper that is typically completed over the length of an academic semester or term, hence the name. A term paper follows the format of a research paper in most cases but differs in that it is typically longer and more involved since the student has had a greater period of time to complete the term paper. Term papers were originally restricted only to those research papers that were due at the conclusion of a semester or term, though today the phrase has expanded in meaning and can refer to any lengthy research assignment.
A term paper is typically structured the same way as a research paper. The term paper begins with an introduction that leads the reader into your specific topic by providing a compelling and interesting hook to interest the reader. The introduction ends with a thesis statement, which presents the main idea that the term paper will demonstrate or prove. Following this, the term paper presents the body section, which varies from a few paragraphs to many pages depending on the length of the paper. The body presents the research that supports the thesis in a way that explains why the thesis is true. Following this, the term paper offers a restatement of the thesis and a conclusion that clearly sums up what the reader should be taking away from the term paper.
A term paper is intended as a showcase for the student's research skills and typically includes significant original research from academic sources such as journal articles, academic books, and scholarly websites. As with most college level papers, non-scholarly sources like Wikipedia are not typically considered appropriate for a college-level term paper. Term papers integrate this research to produce original conclusions that support and defend the student's thesis.
